India vs Australia 3rd Perth Test Match Highlights Day 1

Free streaming cricket video highlights from first day's play of the Perth Third Test Match – India versus Australia played on January 16, 2007.

After the farce that was the Sydney Test cricket match, India was welcomed to Perth with intense speculation by the Aussie media about how the Indian batsmen were going to be blown away by the fastest ever cricket pitch in history and Shaun Tait who was going to touch 170 km/hour. Incidentally, 100 miles/hour corresponds to 160 kilometres/hour.

So when Anil Kumble won the toss and batted he was backing his famed batting line-up. The first thing the Indians got right was getting in Virender Sehwag. Unfortunately for Sehwag, Wasim Jaffer had done well in the test matches against Pakistan and so had Yuvraj Singh. Sehwag might have scored only 29 runs, but the attacking cricket and momentum he generated rubbed off on Jaffer and India for the first time in this series posted an opening 50 run partnership in good time. Such was Sehwag’s effect that Shaun Tait was held back until Sehwag was out. Tait was quite a disappointment not clocking beyond around 148. In fact there were many occasions when he bowled in the 130s.
